Fall is here people!!
I knew it the day I walked into Whole Foods and saw this
Honeycrisp apples. Yummmmmm!!! (P.S. Are we friends on instagram yet??)
Every year when fall rolls around I start craving pumpkin everything. Muffins, soup, pancakes, bread, you name it.This year I decided to document all my fun pumpkin recipes with a series on the blog titled, Pumpkin all the things. First up on the agenda… Pumpkin Pie Spice.
Yes you could just go to the store and buy a jar of pumpkin pie spice, but where is the fun in that? The quality isn’t usually as good and the taste leaves a little to be desired.
My guess is that you already have all the ingredients you will need in your pantry so why not whip up your own version of this fall classic.
Pumpkin Pie Spice
First up let me say that if you aren’t yet buying your spices from AllSpice you need to be. These spices are just incredible and really give my food that extra boost of flavor. The cinnamon and the garlic powder are 2 of my absolute favs.
Mixing up your own pumpkin pie spice should take you 5 minutes or less. Here’s how:
- 3 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1½ tablespoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- ¾ teaspoon ground allspice
- ¾ teaspoon ground cloves
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Stir together, breaking up any clumps. Store in an airtight container
Pumpkin all the things has officially begun!!! Do you have any favorite pumpkin foods that you’d like to see me create a healthy version of? Give me your suggestions in the comments below. This is going to be fun!
